Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen the finale of season 5 of Love Is Blind, proceed with caution.
It’s crunch time on Love Is Blind with just two couples heading to the altar. On Friday, Netflix dropped the wedding-packed finale of season 5, and the contestants were forced to make some tough decisions.
Though Izzy Zapata’s connection with Stacy Snyder might have been overshadowed by other romances initially, the two dove in head first in Mexico and seemed to be all in. But the romance wasn’t without its hiccups.
Stacy wasn’t impressed by Izzy’s apartment, which featured a lost and found drawer that includes mementos left behind by past girlfriends and hookups.
Stacy’s family, especially her dad, also seem concerned with Izzy’s financial situation as Izzy admits that he just changed career paths.
“Sometimes love wants to fly first class,” he told Izzy.
Finances were a recurring concern as it was revealed that Izzy had kept his bad credit from Stacy and hidden the reason why he didn’t have a credit card. Heading into their wedding day, Stacy is understandably concerned about her fiancé withholding important financial information from her, and her mom even warns her, “I would never ignore a red flag.”
Though Izzy says a quick “I do,” Stacy seems torn, but ultimately turns her fiancé down at the altar.
“I love you more than I can even explain. I want to make you happy and I want to give you that reassurance, and I want to say yes,” Stacy says. “But I would be doing you and I a disservice right now to say that ‘I do’ when I feel like there’s a lot of things that we need. And more than anything we need time. We haven’t had time. That’s something that I need.”
Though Izzy seems to take the rejection well at the time, he later appears upset by his bride’s decision.
“I’m hurt and sad more than anything. I really don’t know. I gave it all I had to give,” he says, later adding, “It’s tough, we’re going steps backwards now… When is it ever going to be the right time?”
So were these two able to ultimately work things out post-show? The cast of Love Is Blind is known for wiping their socials to keep things spoiler-free until the wedding episodes air. Both Izzy and Stacy are following each other on Instagram, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re together.
What is more telling is the fact that two of Stacy’s close friends, who are tagged in her photos, are also following Izzy and he is following them back. However, Izzy has been posting lots of pics of himself with other women on social media recently, so the jury’s out on exactly how friendly he is online.
Both Izzy and Stacy seemed to hint at still being together in recent social posts, with Stacy sharing a photo of a beautiful bouquet Izzy seemingly sent her.
They two have at the very least remained friendly. Season 5 of Love Is Blind was filmed in early 2022, so if they are still together, the couple has been keeping this secret for more than a year.
